Skateboarding can't be measured in points. If this was the case, everyone would be doing double or triple kickflips because a regular kickflip would be the lesser of the two, making it lame. What can be measured is the height and degree of difficulty in a certain trick considering the number of obstacles you have to go through just to get that single trick. Jake's back 50 on the Waverly rail is straight up fucked. It's a spot located in Yonkers, NY.

Otherwise known as the "lost boro", Yonkers is home to DMX & members of D-Block along with their infamous car wash. It sits a mere 15 minutes away from the 242nd street train station in the Bronx by car. After watching the "VX is Dead" video, I can only imagine people are going to want to see what else is possible & roll through. (If we're being honest, probably nothing else will be done there.)

Skating the Waverly rail is an uphill battle. First and foremost, this spot has all the qualities to make a spot as difficult as possible. It's on a busy street & the roll up is likely to screw you up a number of times. After ollie-ing up the curb successfully, you'd then have to avoid the manhole at that perfect angle before mentally prepping yourself to ollie up a 3.5 foot high, if not 4 foot rail that is shitty in itself. The rail has a crazy welding job awaiting you at the top but not intentionally towards skateboarders, just spotty work of a tired construction worker at best.

Being that it's from my hometown, of course I'd love to see someone with the same tenacity try to tackle this beast of a rail but it wouldn't carry the same weight. Anything else would probably look lame, except a front 50 or a front 5-0 but it wouldn't carry the same allure and style that Jake put in with the back 50. I think this footage is now two years old but nonetheless, it gives me the same excitement from when I saw it for the first time. By the way, does anyone know where that ad is? I couldn't find it for the life of me....

All and all, Jake fucking rips and we need more people like him on the board. Agreed? Good.
