First Glance: Flauge Lace Protectors

Flauge Lace Protectors display

While the DC Centric S review is coming out this month, we've had the time to develop an awesome relationship with the shoe for up to three weeks now. It's treated us great in every sense of the word with one exception.

Our flick on this shoe keeps ripping the laces. Granted, this may not hold true to everyone else skating the Centric but our flick and ollies in particular are running through laces like woah. While the old school method would be to ignore it, deal with it or find some type of adhesive to prolong the inevitable, we're tired of ignoring it. A new brand has emerged out of nowhere to cure a problem that has fucked with skateboarder's since we first learned our ollies. The name of that brand is Flauge and they sent us a nice package of their "lace protectors" to put to the test. Originally, we were going to feature Flauge's Lace Protectors next month but what better time than now, right?  For every week we've skated the Centric is how many times we've re-laced our primary flick foot. Flauge's Lace Protectors use a simple "push in & insert" method to install their product. You don't have to take off your laces or anything. As you can see in the photos, the narrow end towards the bottom smoothly fits between the lace & the eyelet of your choice. Once you've found that particular spot where you keep ripping your laces, all you have to do then is push the lace into the slot where it'll open up & grasp the ends of the lace protectors. It's as simple as that, just secure that everything is inserted correctly and start skating. With a snug fit & normal lacing method, all should be well with the lace protectors and they should stay in place.

Simple design to just push into your eyelet
