Sneak Peek: Adidas Lucas Puig Pro Model

Here at RL's, it isn't our authority to leak the latest pro model photos in advance unless we're given permission from the companies involved. In this case we haven't been given permission but it's already online so if you don't see it here, you're bound to find it somewhere else. It's already on the internet so think of it as pissing in the pool, it's there and it'll never be taken out.

After speaking with a rep at Adidas, I found out a number of things about their catalog. All of the Adidas pro models are going to be $80 bucks. No exceptions! Pro colorways aren't put in this category so you'll be able to find those anywhere between $65 - $75 retail. This Lucas pro model was inspired by the Adidas archive of tennis shoes and features some skate performance friendly alterations. For the most part, it's a thin cupsole shoe that's going to give you a vulcanized feel. Lucas stripped the shoe of any unnecessary padding for ultimate control. The Lucas Pro has a EVA (foam) midsole and a sockline insole. I've never been a huge fan of sockliners because it's a hassle to tear them out of the shoe in order to put a better insole inside but with some work, it's possible. Better to wait before ripping it out though, I might have stated that most sockliners suck but who knows, maybe they've developed a better padding system.

When I had the shoe in hand, it felt flexible and ready to skate out of the box. Also, the rep told me how much of a team favorite the Lucas Pro has become. There might be some minor changes but nothing too crazy, maybe a stitched moved here and some padding added there. You can expect these to hit shelves around July 2012 so start saving up because the odds are, you'll want more than one pair.

In other Adidas related news, Busenitz is currently working on his 2nd pro model shoe and apparently PJ Ladd might be getting added to the team asap. I'll keep you guys updated.

Peace.
